What Are You Waiting For??? – Becoming An Organized Entrepreneur

Thanks so much for coming back to my blog! If you haven't done so yet, please sign up for my newsletters to receive updates and valuable information.
Being an entrepreneur is one of the most exciting and rewarding professions to become–having your own business, being your own boss and no longer “working for the MAN”–however, as entrepreneurs, there are so many things we want (or need) to do to make our businesses successful, but we always seem to find reasons NOT to do them.

Here’s a *for instance*: When it comes to writing blogs or creating videos for my blogs, I have all these great ideas on what I’d like to do; however, when it comes time to write the blog or create the video, there are times when I find myself coming up with *excuses* not to. Let me know if you’ve heard these before:
“I just don’t have time today, I’ll work on it tonight (tomorrow, next week, etc).”
“I can’t think of anything to write/record.”
“I have to do the laundry/wash dishes/make dinner.”
“I have to check my mail in all five of my email accounts PLUS see what’s going on in all twelve of my social networking sites.”
“My favorite show is on TV and I don’t want to miss it!”
“My child is taking a nap and I don’t want to wake him/her while trying to create a video.”
Sound familiar? These are all EXCUSES that our ego comes up with in an attempt to keep you from achieving your goals. What you need to remember is this: THE EGO HATES CHANGE and will do anything in its power to see to it that everything stays the same within its own comfort level.
Fortunately YOU CAN have the upper hand when it comes to making positive changes in your life and accomplishing the tasks you set out to do to achieve your goals. The secret is in the approach.
- Before you go to bed, make a list of the tasks you need to do the next day in order of importance. I usually list my “Top 5″.
- Complete each task, starting with the most important one. NOTE: Do not progress to the next task UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED THE FIRST ONE. As you finish each task, check them off as a reminder that you have accomplished something.
- Repeat this process until you have successfully completed the tasks on your list.
- If you were unable to finish all the tasks on your list, no worries! Just add the incomplete taks to your list for the next day–just move them up to a higher priority level to ensure that you get them done the following day.
The more you do this, the more it becomes a HABIT, which will then make you MORE FOCUSED, ORGANIZED AND EFFICIENT, which means you are WORKING SMARTER. And by working smarter, you will be well on your way to CREATING A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS.
I hope you have found this strategy to be useful. If you like what you’ve read, please join my blog and sign up for updates. Feel free to share my blog posts on your social networking sites. Thank you.
To YOUR SUCCESS!

For many network marketing entrepreneurs, the desire to mold oneself to reflect those who have garnered renowned success and riches is normal; however, just because a certain path works for one person, does not necessarily mean that it is going to work for you.

Lately, I've been thinking of the well-known essay by Robert Fulghum, "All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten", and realized that we really did learn (almost) everything we needed to know about life skills when we were just 5 or 6 years old.

Heather, I picked out something profound
you said,THE EGO HATES CHANGE and will do anything in its power to see to it that everything stays the same within its own comfort level. ”
I am keeping this as a reminder to myself to pick out the person who I need to be listening to.
I felt like you were talking to me about my slacking tendencies.
thanks.
Patrick
Thank you, Patrick. I wrote this as a message not only to all of you, but to myself as well…now and again, a little reminder is needed.
Namaste,
Heather
Awesome post Heather!
I have my daily top 5 and I time block the first working hour of every single day, dedicating that to my #1 priority, so no matter what, the absolute most important, progressive, profitable tasks are done. The other 4 fall right into place before noon most days.

I’ve been checking out your blog as well. Really great information you have. I’m so glad I came across it.

Hi Heather,
Your right on with this post… successful entrepreneurs are all about getting things done.
One thing that I have found helpful is to make sure that the tasks I write down are as simple as possible. I don’t mean easy. I mean so small that I don’t have to think too much about doing them.
For example, instead of “record new video”… I’ll break it down to its simpler parts: “brainstorm video idea”, “write down main points of video”, “prepare equipment for recording”, “record video”, “edit video”, etc.
This might seem like a lot, but its easier for your brain to wrap around these single, simple tasks rather than the big task “record new video”. And, I can complete a single task without having to complete the entire process. Less reason to procrastinate, and visible progress toward my goals.

Heather,
Am working on getting better organized and your tips pointed me in that direction. Yes, it is easy to make excuses, but remembering that it takes 29 days to break a habit, I’m trying to begin one good practice until it’s a habit and then move on to the next one. So as Dr. Dyer so aptly puts it, “Excuses Begone”!
