Perfection: Letting Go Of The Myth And Allowing Creativity To Grow
Posted by Heather Taskovics · 12 Comments
As human beings, we constantly strive to achieve ultimate perfection in our lives–the perfect life, the perfect body, the perfect clothes, perfect looks, etc. In reality, the idea of perfection is simply a myth created by our egos–IT SIMPLY DOES NOT EXIST–at least, not in the sense that we have been trained to believe.
Once you ACCEPT YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU ARE and realize that the perfection actually lies in your ability to make mistakes and encourage creative growth within yourself, you will be able to appreciate what you are doing and achieve more in your life than you ever thought possible!

Heather,
Good post. You have capture it and people really need to take this message to heart. I did a video yesterday and when I played it back I thought, man I look fat. Then I did a video about people overcoming their fear of what other people think of them doesn’t matter. I think we would all like to be perfect but in the end, it’s never going to happen.
We must strive to become the best person we can but, that’s it. And always keep in mind “we are human.”

It’s the old ready, fire, aim approach. One needs to start doing in order to perfect it (possibly) by trial and error. not the other way around.
If we wait to have everything perfect, we would never get anything done. Thanks for sharing.
I struggled with this issue for a long time in my career but once I jumped in with both feet, i never looked back.

Perfectionism is one of the greatest causes of perceived failure. It is, in most circumstance, virtually unattainable. But more importantly… it is just unnecessary.
It leads to procrastination through the fear of not being able to get something perfect. It leads to berating oneself because the result was not perfect. It leads to stress and anxiety as you try to get it all perfect.
Thanks for reinforcing the message that being imperfect is OK!

Great post Heather ! Like our friend Scott Brandon Hoffman says … “Just Do You.” … and that’s what other people want from you anyway, right? Just be yourself … therein our real “perfection” exists ….

Great post Heather! So many of us are sabotaged by our desires to be perfect in all that we do and are. When we accept that perfection is an illusion, and strive to learn from our errors and imperfections, growth is accomplished.
The way I see it, we’re constantly in motion – either moving ahead or digressing backwards. When we see our errors and failures as opportunities to learn and move forward, our journey is as it should be.
I’m so happy to be sharing my journey with you, and believe we are truly on the path to freedom, truth, and endless light!
Namaste,

Heather thank you for sharing this!
I really think that in an attempt to achieve perfection we often hold ourselves back because we are afraid to make a mistake. I agree with you that it is ‘ok’ to be your own unique, creative, non-perfect self.
It is important that we learn to grow and stretch with each failure because we may likely bounce back and achieve even greater success than we initially thought.
Love your thoughts on this topic! Thank you for sharing!

Hi Heather,
Ahh, the ego, such a tenacious little bugger! Our best friend and our worst enemy. So many people out there are chasing the illusion of what’s real and/or important. The interesting thing about the ego is that it’s never satisfied. Whatever it is we are fortunate enough to attain creates a temporary state of happiness followed by new desires and new longing.
While desire is important as a motivator, the key word here is “acceptance”. Just being present with who you are and what you have in the now. This also relates to one’s skills and abilities. Growth is a process and cannot be forced but must unfold naturally. The following quote comes to mind:
“Do Your Practice And All Is Coming”~Sri K. Pattabhi Jois

Heather,
It seemed like you were talking directly to me about how we need to be perfect. In the past I allowed my ego to tell me that the tasks at hand were not perfect and therefore I could not finish them. Waiting for everything to “fall into place” kept be from delivering and actually learning how to do it better.
I didn’t realize it but I was missing the OJT or on the job training. Learning by doing is pivotal for any marketer. This type of learning can’t be done if we allow our ego’s to dictate our emotions. the points you highlight are probably the biggest reasons why most people fail in any business.
Things will never be perfect. But they can still be good and delivered as such. Thanks for sharing.
