One Tribe – We Are ALL Connected

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Music can be such an amazing inspiration. There is this song by the Black Eyed Peas that has inspired me to write this blog.  Here it is for your listening pleasure:

I love the idea of the words, “One Tribe”.  It gives one a sense of belonging and acceptance that may not have been experienced before.  We all want to feel like we are connected with others who possess congruent qualities that we may possess.  In the social media networking circles, a tribe is a group of people who share similar interests and support each other in those interests by syndicating (promoting) each others’ blog posts and sharing valuable content with the rest of the world. Click on this link to see an example of what I’m talking about.

That being said, I want to focus on the message that this song presents…

In this era of war and strife, we must take the time to remember and be mindful of the fact that we are all connected with each other–from your parents to the homeless child who lives halfway across the globe.  As the song “One Tribe” states, we must learn to forget our past transgressions with each other, set aside our differences and treat each other as we wish to be treated; with loving kindness and respect for all living things.

Now I’m not saying that everyone should become vegetarian–I certainly am not…though it gets rather tempting lately–but by living every day with a sense of compassion for each other, knowing that what happens to you happens to me, too (and vice versa!), we can take that necessary step towards a happier more peaceful way of existence.

According to Answers.com, compassion is defined as a:

“Deep awareness of the suffering of another coupled with the wish to relieve it.”

Sounds simple, doesn’t it?  It’s not always easy, though.  Practicing compassion is probably one of the highest forms of love any one person can have for all of humanity.  It even means forgiving your enemies of their wrongdoings against you.  His Holiness the Dalai Lama himself has even experienced times of struggle with practicing compassion toward those who drove him out of Tibet and caused devastation among his people.

The next time you feel negatively towards another person, think about how you would feel if that energy was directed towards you.  Take a moment to figure out WHY you are feeling that way and do what you can to see a more positive side to the target of your anger.  No one is perfect, but we can all at least make an effort to do what we can to be more empathetic towards each other.

If you agree with this message, by all means share it with everyone you know!  And please DO leave a comment and add to the discussion–I would love to read your insights.

Until next time…

Namaste, my wonderful friends.

One Tribe ~ oh yeah, baby! I love that you included this song in your post ~ a while back Nick Logan suggested we all right posts including this and share our spin on it ~ I don’t think it ever happened so it’s awesome to find you writing about it!

Ah yes, compassion. It reminds me of a quote I love from George Washington Carver, “How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these.” So true….and so important to always keep at the forefront of our mind.

Thank you for the beauty and inspiration of this post, Heather!

Yes.we are all in one tribe.due to changes in our living, changes in applications from a to z methods, we are different from each other.
We expect world peace, some equitable share of our individual, nations wealth and free from poverty, social and economic evils at the earliest.

  6. Heather…it is a great message. We can get caught up in whether it is possible to actually have a world of peace but it doesn’t even matter really. We can certainly learn what it means to live a life of love toward the people in our lives. We all touch many, many people and we can control how we interact with those people. If we simply focus in on what we can do ourselves…the world indeed will change.

That is what the Daily Crushers are all about…touching each other’s lives to make each of our lives better.

    Thanks for sharing Heather!

    Heather,

This post really encompasses the true meaning of our existence. Regardless of how others behave, we need to recognize that within each and every person there is a spark of the Divine. When they act poorly we can either focus on what has angered us, or choose to focus on their good qualities.

Seeing every person as an extension of God can certainly help us to change the way we view them, and in turn may bring them closer to the perfection that is their Source.

    Peace!

I agree, we each need to endeavor to live with love and compassion for our fellow beings. I believe that it is important to has this philosophy in business too. If we can’t bring peace to the entire world, at least we can bring it to that part which we belong to and touch.

Heather, you did a great job of showing this to us here. The use of the video added the “drive in” it needed.

    Bless~ed Be & Regards,
