The Importance Of Attending Events – The *REAL* Secret To Keeping Momentum And Creating A Highly Profitable Business

I had the pleasure of attending my first conference for the opportunity that I’m working with. Based on what little I knew or had heard about these types of events, I really was not sure what to expect–other than the possibility of a lot of *RAH, RAH, RAH…GO TEAM, GO!…YOU RAWK!!!* going on for the duration of the weekend (thankfully, this was NOT the case).  In reality, what I experienced was more than I could have ever hoped for…

The first night was geared toward guests of other independent distributors who were interested in learning more about the company, its product and the opportunity.  The presentation was extremely well done–the presenters were engaging and the information was presented in a simple yet thorough manner.  If I wasn’t already a part of the team I would have signed up right then and there!

The following day of the event, which was for independent distributors and those who had just joined the previous night, was filled with guest speakers, the latest product information and marketing tools, as well as a *masterclass* on marketing prospects.  In addition, those who had achieved the higher ranks were recognized for their tremendous efforts and successes.

It was a highly informative, motivating and inspirational weekend all around.  And yes, there was some of that *RAH, RAH, RAH* going on, but it was minimal and occurred at appropriate times.  I had an absolute blast!

The *POWER* of Attending Live Events

I used to be of the mindset that attending hotel meetings was so *old school* and that with the power of social media and the Internet, you really only needed a great webinar or an intriguing info call to get your prospects to join your team.  What I’ve learned since the event is that it takes BOTH to really create the success that you desire to have with your business.  While webinars and info calls are powerful in and of themselves–and they are still a great resource IF there are no hotel meetings or in-house presentations taking place near where the prospects live–attending a live event provides the visceral experience that converts more prospects into your business.  It is probably THE most powerful marketing tool you can have in your arsenal.

This is also true for attending conferences, seminars and symposiums where you learn the latest *tricks of the trade* from the most successful people in your niche–be it network marketing, dentistry, massage therapy, ballroom dancing, or what have you.  You should ALWAYS strive to learn and grow in your business–attending these events will not only give you the opportunity to improve your skills, it provides a chance to meet the presenters and get to know them while expanding your circle of influence.

Taking *IMMEDIATE ACTION* Post Event

One of the greatest side effects to attending live events is that you are energized and inspired to hit the ground running and make things happen for yourself and your business.  Just remember to keep that feeling alive once you’ve walked through the door of your house and thrown your suitcase on the bed upon returning–statistically speaking, only a small percentage of people ever take action after participating an event…the rest just go back to what they were doing before and wondering why they’re not seeing any improved success.  You MUST apply what you’ve learned as soon as you leave the hotel to go home–talk about the event and what you learned with your travel buddies (if possible), hop on the computer as soon as you get to the airport and check out the online resources that were provided to you during the conference,  review the notes you scribbled down and write a game plan as to how you are going to implement what you’ve just learned.  Taking immediate action will definitely ensure the growth and prosperity for your business that you desire.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post.  I would LOVE to know your thoughts on the subject–share your own personal experiences about attending events–so please DO post your comments in the section provided below.

  2. Heather,

Live events are great… when everyone
comes together for the same mission, the
    energy and synergy is amazing.

Also, meeting people face to face is where
it’s at. Social Media is great, but we are humans
and we like to connect and interact.

    Thanks for the share :)

  3. Great post Heather

My first mentor always told me
‘event attendees become millionaires’ and he was right!

    keep up the good work!

  5. Yeah, In the techie world, live events are not thought of as powerful. But it is those events that really puts fire into what you are doing. There is a heightened sense of awareness for being there, too. Love what you are doing.

    Heather,

Sounds like you got a lot out of your conference. I agree, it’s important to attend various events in order to help keep the momentum going. The last few events I’ve attended for my opportunity, I learned so much. Because there is so much to do, I promised myself, I would pace myself based on what I want to do the next time around. Besides, it’s always exciting to meet new people and to share the experience with others.

    Thanks for sharing!
    Denise

  7. Hey Heather…I have been to countless live events and always enjoyed them. I would have to say my two favorites were: the all expenses paid 7 night cruise on a chartered cruise ship (the 2nd largest in the world at the time) on the Caribbean…and then the all expenses paid trip to Hawaii.

They were the most fun for sure. However, I must agree with you…live events somehow create a new sense of mission and momentum for you after you get back.

Thanks for sharing and reminding me of the great trips I have had.

    Hi Heather:

I just got back from the Radiant Success Event out in NC. There are so many benefits to attending conferences and Social Network Events. It’s great to meet other successful like minded people face to face. Get to learn so much from the materials presented at these events.

The tough part is after the conference or event and keeping the momentum going.
